Jesus said, Let the children come to me. - Mark 10:14
These simple words inspire us to lead our little children to the Lord Jesus. And an excellent way to do that is through the sacrament of the Eucharist. In The Eucharist for Little Children, your children will begin to understand the real presence of our Lord in the Eucharist. They will encounter Jesus in the solemnity of the Mass, the quiet of adoration and the splendor of a Corpus Christi Procession. Your children will also experience the Lord through the traditional beauty of the Church, inspiring music and the vibrant spirit of our DVD host Jennifer Naimo. Jennifer brings her Broadway talent to a new dimension in this ministry to little children.
This DVD is an excellent way to prepare your children for their first Holy Communion. It will also give them a better understanding of the Mass. They'll see and hear:
- Traditional and original sacred music.
- How the bread and wine are made for the Eucharist.
- Why Father wears those colorful vestments and why he dresses like Jesus Christ.
- How to pray in Eucharistic adoration.
- And by seeing the example of other little children, how to behave in church!
The Eucharist for Little Children is created by the makers of The Rosary for Little Children, A Christmas for Little Children and The Best of Little Children. Our desire is to draw your child closer to Jesus Christ. Fullscreen
Broadway singer Jennifer Naimo (Jersey Boys, Grease, Les Miserables) is the host for this kid-friendly overview of transubstantiation (the consecration of bread and wine into the body and blood of Christ during the sacrament of the Eucharist). Beginning with a look at Da Vinci's painting of The Last Supper (which depicts the first transubstantiation), Naimo sings a song called "Broken Bread," about the "bread of life" and "cup of salvation," before offering examples (such as a doll becoming a real little girl) to suggest the wonderousness of the process. In addition, viewers will visit a church where a priest talks to a group of young children about the various holy vestments (alb, stole, cincture, chasuble) and how each relates to Jesus, after which he is seen at the pulpit explaining the Eucharist and later performing the sacrament. The amiable Naimo tells viewers that the wine comes from vineyards and the wheat is grown on a farm (we see sisters preparing the bread for the Eucharist). In addition, Naimo talks about First Communion (sharing the story of a young Irish girl whose fervent belief in Christ convinced a priest to allow her to take communion even though she was not of age) and silent prayer in church (talking to God without using words). Finally, viewers will see a Corpus Christi Procession (which Naimo calls a "love march") celebrating Jesus. A solid primer for younger children, this is recommended.
Excellent DVD! Children were very engaged by it . It was both educational and enjoyable. Great teaching tool. 4 stars!!
Not true Catholic. It's more like a show. There should have been a little more piety and explained by a priest what the holy eucharist is. I would not consider it good for teaching the holy eucharist. Thank you. God bless.
I LOVE this DVD. The option to download is great! Thank you. I use this with 6 & 7 year olds. They are very attentive to it. Well done. I have not found any comparable material.
