“If they kill me, I shall rise in the Salvadoran people.”
Romero is a compelling and deeply moving look at the life of Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador. Romero made the ultimate sacrifice in a passionate stand against social injustice and oppression in his country.
This film chronicles the transformation of Oscar Romero from an apolitical, complacent priest to a committed leader of the Salvadoran people.
Acclaimed actor Raul Julia (KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN) stars as Archbishop Romero, a man of God forced by the unspeakable events going on around him to take a stand -- a stand that ultimately leads to Archbishop Oscar Romero's assassination in 1980 at the hands of the revolutionary government Junta.
This film features powerful performances by Richard Jordan (HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, GETTYSBURG) and Ana Alicia. Australian writer-director John Duigan (THE YEAR MY VOICE BROKE) makes his directorial debut with Romero.

I am blessed every time I watch the film "Romero". I am also humbled to know that the injustice he gave his life to end is still very much with us. His unswerving faith in God, and service to God's people is an amazing example of what Jesus meant when he said we must pick up our cross and follow him. May Jesus return and establish his Kingdom soon, so all injustice, selfishness and hatered will be gone forever, replaced by everlasting joy!!!
